Race Weekend Review
Goss Racing and Competition
June 14, 2007 Goss Competition Update
The Goss Competition crew was very uncertain about what could happen at the Tisler Salvage event because they decided to bring a very un-tested car. Driver Louie Goss was a little on edge. “I really wanted to get out to the track last Tuesday and shake all the wrenches out of it and just get a good base for the set up.” With a lot of new technology equipment at the Goss Competition shop the car will be a lot faster and much more consistent than in the past, but the car has to settle like a house and take on the position in the suspension that it will accept. After a solid practice, driver Louie Goss realized that the car had become very loose towards the end of the run. Crew Chief and Team Manager Dean Goss decided to pull the hood off and take a look at the front suspension of the car during which he realized the sway bar had nearly come completely unhooked which would explain the looseness on entry into the corner. After a dismal qualifying attempt Louie stepped it up and finished 3rd in the heat race and 5th in the last chance race. The team was very nervous for the feature race and couldn’t wait to see number 17 to the end. Louie started last on the field and on lap 2 skillfully avoided an accident that consumed 10 cars. After this point the race became more of a good test for the Goss Competition Grand Prix. Louie had to disappointingly drop out of the event with 3 laps to go due to an electrical failure. Goss Competition was very happy with the evening and besides Dean, Louie and 240 (John Goss) nearly tearing apart another competitor, it was a very smooth evening. Goss Competition wants to thank Spotter John Goss, Tech Analyst Teele Doherty, Videographer Mary Goss, and Website Technician Nick Aulik.
